ARTIST'S
REAL ESTATE RESOURCES
New
Bedford has a wealth of industrial space to suit the needs of most artists.
The buildings range from finished spaces with weekend heat, restrooms, showers,
and proximity to an active arts organization (ArtWorks!) to large, open, partially
unfinished spaces (Cove Street).
Many area artists and artisans use the abundance of historic mill spaces to
house their creative businesses. These range from small, private studios to
manufacturing businesses. For more information on available studio and industrial
spaces in New Bedford please contact the New Bedford Economic Development
Council.
The
Ropeworks
Newly renovated, the Ropeworks offers large open spaces, high ceilings, an abundance of natural light, wide hallways and doors, a loading dock and a shared gallery. The building features a sawtooth roof and an exposed steel frame. The nature of the design allows for lofted second level mezzanines within the twenty four foot plus high spaces. Each unit will have expansive space and natural light from north-facing skylights. Skylights run the full length of every unit, providing ample even-toned light, optimal for studio space.
